No — and this is important to understand clearly. TrueDatarium provides bookkeeping organisation and financial record preparation services. We are not contabilistas certificados registered with the Ordem dos Contabilistas Certificados (OCC). We do not file tax returns, produce official financial statements or provide accounting advice of any kind. Our role is to organise and prepare your records so that your licensed contabilista can do their regulated work efficiently.
Yes, absolutely. In Portugal, most businesses are legally required to have a contabilista certificado handle their official accounting obligations — including IVA returns, IRS/IRC declarations and official financial statements. TrueDatarium works alongside your contabilista, not instead of them. We handle the preparatory organisation work; they handle the regulated accounting and filing. Our service is designed to make your contabilista's work faster and more efficient, not to replace it.
You can post physical receipts to our Lisbon address, or photograph them and send them digitally — whichever works better for you. When we receive physical documents, we log them, scan them at high resolution and incorporate them into your digital file. Original physical documents are handled carefully and can be returned to you or retained according to your preference. We'll agree on a document-handling approach that suits your situation during our initial conversation.
This is one of the most common situations we encounter. We offer catch-up services for clients who need to bring their records up to date before moving to a regular monthly arrangement. The catch-up process involves collecting all outstanding documents, working through them systematically and producing a complete, organised archive for the period in question. Once the backlog is cleared, we move into the standard monthly service. We'll discuss the scope and timeline during your initial enquiry.
We're flexible about delivery format and method. Most contabilistas have a preferred structure for how they receive client records — we'll ask you (or liaise directly with your accountant) to understand their requirements and build our output to match. Delivery is typically via secure file sharing, email or a cloud folder, depending on what your contabilista uses. The goal is always that they can open the file and begin working immediately, without needing to reorganise or request missing items.
